Social Concerns Ministry - On a local level, we continued to support the Tooele Interfaith Community and our partnership with the Community Action Program (CAP) agency, and we sought to establish a relationship with the Tooele office of Volunteers of America. We assisted the Tooele Interfaith Community . Discussion continued on pursuing collaboration with the Tooele County School District, Utahans Against Hunger, and the Tooele Interfaith Community to participate in a summer food program in our community. We continue our support for Habitat for Humanity, the Thrivent Builds project, and the Coalition of Religious Communities (CORC). We also participated in ELCA World Hunger project making a contribution through a Lent offering.
Worship and Music - Worship and Praise Committee Update. To all who worship at Mountain of Faith Lutheran Church, please know that the members of the Worship and Praise committee are committed to enhancing your worship experience.
Just in case you do not know the members of the WP committee, let me take this opportunity to tell you. Mickey Falkner, Amy Christian, Esther Raymond, and Susan Albrecht meet monthly to discuss many of the aspects of worship. Often Pastor Steve joins us as well as others who are interested and involved with worship planning. We not only plan the music, but the entire worship service, from announcements during service, to acolytes and beyond.
Our main focus recently has been the new liturgy, Evangelical Lutheran Worship have new musical responses throughout our services and a new hymnal. Speaking of hymnals, we are initiating a “Hymnal Drive” so all who are called are invited to pledge to purchase new hymnals for our congregation will be holding some special events in the near future, as well, to support this hymnal drive will be able to measure our progress on the “Hymnal” thermometer, hanging in the Narthex!
We are very excited to be a part of the worship experience and welcome your comments at any time know we want the worship time at Mountain of Faith to be a prayerful, spiritual time devoted to group praise.
Respectfully submitted in Christ’s name, Susan Albrecht, chairperson
Evangelism - The Evangelism team job description is to become an ambassador of Christ, Sunday through Saturday; share the good news of Jesus Christ during one-to-one conversations in daily life; invite family, friends, and acquaintances to learn more about God’s love; invite people to join our congregation for worship, study, fellowship, and service; witness to Jesus by living a compassionate, gracious and loving life; welcome guests who come to church activities; and encourage each other to grow in faith.
Congregational Life - Play nights appear to have typically good responses, and we have attended several throughout the year. Dinner groups started up again, but have taken a break for awhile. Our summer picnic honored our fellow Christians from St. Barnabas. We are looking for more ideas and help in organizing future events.
Youth and Christian Education- Mountain of Faith’s Christian Education Program has consists of a nine month Sunday School, one week summer Vacation Bible School, a children’s Christmas pageant, and assorted activities throughout the year. Sunday School students are grouped by school age with interactive programs for elementary children including hands-on Bible learning, weekly Bible lessons, crafts, music, games, celebrations, and sharing. Our Junior High program is selected jointly be the instructor and children. The Senior High program is an open forum of discussion that is based on guided material. Other events have included youth bowling, monthly youth nights, camping trips, and others. The service projects have been weeding, mowing, food drive, and Christmas shoe boxes.
Finance- The council has kept a tight budget keeping our spending below what was expected and our offerings and growth have kept us going. Fill out pledge cards and remember to support your church in its financial needs.
